great product as advertised

The slot cutter worked as advertised. The slots in the hot dog looked just like the picture. It melded the flavor of grilling or cooking into the slots and also the toppings you put on it. We were very happy with it.

I bought this to try something different. Hot dogs were getting boring, not felt like I had a true glizzy until I used this utensil. The big thing is that it cooks more of the inside than your regular knife slit or forking. I never want another hot dog without using this, its a complete game changer. Next grill out, I’m bringing this. Oh yeah, and when they say didn’t use it on brats and sausage with casings, they are right. It turns into a big mess and gets stuck in the squars. Stick with dogs.

My wife doesn’t eat hot dogs. Well, not until today, when she tried her first slot dog. Today she raved about it and then ate the kids’ cold leftovers. In 10 minutes, I attained Master Hot Dog Chef status. I’m normally not allowed to touch the grill, but today will go down in history as the day I reclaimed some of my manhood. Next step: start peeing on the toilet seat!I’ve seen some feedback that the blades aren’t sharp or that it doesn’t work as advertised. Mine came plenty sharp and it slices effortlessly into hot dogs as long as I use a rocking motion and the meat is cold. Well, I say cold meat because everyone else does, but honestly, I’ve never tried it on warm meat. Not sure I’d want to. I’ve used it on Ballpark, Hebrew National, and Hebrew National Jumbo dogs without any issues.Obviously, SLOTDOG is not the only way to accomplish this. I’d never heard of scoring hot dogs, so I did some manually with a knife first. I was blown away by the difference in flavor and texture. It took maybe 5 minutes to carefully score 4 hot dogs by hand, and it takes maybe a minute to do it with the SLOTDOG. It’s worth the 4 minute gain in time and effort to me. But if you haven’t already, you should run a knife over a few hot dogs and see for yourself if the purchase is justifiable.Durability-wise, you could probably drive a car over this thing. It’s built like a tank. You will likely never have to worry about pushing too hard and breaking it.Cleanup is as easy as claimed – just throw it in the dishwasher. I tried scrubbing it with a brush once, but I can’t say that was even as effective as the dishwasher. Take my word for it and just hit the easy button.I’ve introduced a number of friends to SLOTDOG and none of them have been disappointed.

While I originally thought this was a gimmick, it turned out to be pretty cool. Like other reviewers have said, pop the hot dogs into the freezer for 20-30 minutes before and you get a very nice finished product. No issues with it sticking or coming apart while pulling it off. My kids won’t eat hot dogs any other way now.
Daniel Hernandez –
Thrilled with quality, job well done! makes simple hotdog special, quickly! cant live without it!
Jessica Jones –
Our nephew, who grills and smokes meat as a second job got us onto this.It really makes hot dogs brown better and turn out juicier, too.And having them look different from the overcooked, boiled ones I remember from school lunches is a plus, too
John Martinez –
Fun and easy to use. The slight rocking from left to right as suggested works best. This was the first time I saw people put the chili and cheese on the bun and place the dog on top. Was a fun meal at out church with the new look. This was easy to clean, we didn’t have and trouble at all cleaning it.
Sarah Williams –
The quality is great. Works great, the only way we make hotdogs now.
Sarah Davis –
My hot dogs are a hit now at all my gatherings when I use this device. It makes the hot dogs bloom open, easy to hold condiments, chili, you name it. I love it. The outer rim has come loose, so I am ordering another one, but I absolutely love mine…..
Anna Johnson –
I was apprehensive purchasing this because I feared it would not really work and get all messy. It worked great!! I forgot to freeze the hot dogs for a few minutes before cutting but they still cut easily and released no problem. My family loved the way the hotdogs looked. It adds a nice look to a not so pretty piece of meat. I cut both sides and they opened up nicely as they cooked. I used all beef BallPark hot dogs.I would definitely recommend this item. It’s not just a gadget you wish you never bought and throw in a drawer. The only thing that I did not like was cleaning it after use. The hotdog residue got caught in the cutting grid and I had trouble washing it out completely. I ended up soaking it in warm soapy water and washed again.Dint hesitate to purchase this if you are on the fence. You’ll enjoy it!
Robert Johnson –
It really works and gives you a great looking hot dog. Overpriced but I still like it
Daniel Davis –
Beautiful red. Customer service was fantastic.
Laura Martinez –
I have purchased two of these as gifts. One was a request and the other one was given to a friend whose families like to cook out hot dogs frequently. The cuts help the hot dog keep the fixings in the bun. Fun to use.
Daniel Martinez –
Kind of an indulgence, but novel. Increases surface area and creates edges that crisp.
John Miller –
If you love grilling hot dogs, you need the SLOTDOG in your life! This tool takes your hot dogs to the next level. The stainless steel blades are sharp and precise, creating perfect crisscross cuts on your hot dogs. Not only does it make them look amazing with a pro-grill-master flair, but the cuts also help the hot dogs cook more evenly and absorb flavors better.I’ve used this at home for BBQs and even taken it tailgating—it’s a game changer. Plus, those little cuts make the hot dogs extra crispy on the grill. Cleanup is a breeze, and the tool feels sturdy and well-made, so I know it will last for years. This is a fun, simple way to elevate your grilling experience, and my friends always ask me how I get my hot dogs to look and taste so good. Highly recommend!

Pretty straight forward. We followed the instructions on the box, put 5 Oscar Mayer Angus Beef Hot Dogs in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to make them a bit firm, then placed them on a cutting board and pressed the SlotDog on top of each one and felt the blades penetrating the Hot Dogs. Placed them on the grill and they came out just as pictured on the box and tasted even better. Thumbs up 👍🏻 for the SlotDog.Update 7/10/24: I love the Slot Dog! I’ve graduated from Oscar Mayer brand dogs to Nathan’s Colossal 1/4 lb. dogs and they are the amazing! I also found buns made by “Anzio & Sons” bakery, that will accommodate longer and thicker dogs without falling apart. I added more pics as proof!
Laura Williams –
Simply put this is a game changerSeriously love it. I grilled up some Costco hot dogs after using this and they were all the rage. I love how the slots make them look but more importantly it adds heat and flavoring deeper into the dog. It’s easy to clean and I even use it on the basic Nathan’s dogs just to make a statement. The condiments go deeper into the hot dog versus just sliding off it. Its been an excellent purchase.
Jessica Brown –
OK so it is a little pricey… However, I just made the most delicious hot dogs I have ever made. I cooked them on the griddle like I always do, but I used this tool instead of a score down the middle. The dogs opened up and made the dogs give off a lot more juice that coated and caramelized them in the grilling process. Despite giving off a lot of juice, the dogs remained perfectly juicy. I highly recommend this little tool. Life-changing for a person who loves hot dogs 🙂
Daniel Martinez –
Good product, works well.
John Martinez –
This thing is super cool and definitely steps up my hot dog game. Now I can get extra spices, rubs, and SMOKE on my hot dogs.
Daniel Miller –
one of my favorite hotdog things. adds spots for sauces and spices and also added areas for crisping some edges for flavor and texture.
Anna Garcia –
Incredible that this little gadget has upped the hotdog game to astronomical heights. I don’t recommend inserting slot-dogs into side split buns. Top splits for the win!!
Anna Williams –
This is a really cool device that changes the game of hotdog grilling. Do wish there was a stopper so you don’t accidentally cut too deep. I learned to just keep the tips of my fingers on the edge to judge the depth.
Mike Smith –
I’ve already used it. It works really well on plane hotdogs but not the sausage cheese.
Mark Williams –
The answer should be no but, in my case, it’s a big loud yes! It makes cross hatch marks on your hot dogs and brats that allow for better grilling. The hot dog expands, letting the raised squares get a great grill while the channels let your condiments spread for every bite. And it flattens your hot dog a bit so more rolling around. And come on, it’s fun and the kids love it!
Sarah Williams –
Great size for hot dogs or brats, or a kielbasa.
Mike Brown –
It’s a fun conversation tool at the Barbecue.
John Johnson –
Awesome product like it more than slicing the dogs myself
Sarah Jones –
This thing is built tough. Heavy weight plastic surrounding a sharp grid that cuts into your hot dog. I am not sure why people are having trouble cutting unless they are trying it on a sausage with skin, or a brat, or something other than regular hot dog. Works great for me on my Costco Hot Dogs and Hebrew National. Just place it over a properly chilled hot dog, and rock it from left to right then remove the hot dog from the grid. Give it a flip and waffle cut the other side of the hot dog. Place on grill, under broiler, or in a buttered pan. Makes rock star hot dogs.Pre-cut a bunch for your party then cook to order on the grill and watch the comments fly.I clean it on the top rack of my dishwasher with the grid facing down toward the spray arm.Highly Recommended.
Jessica Smith –
I love a decent amount of char on my hotdogs, and putting the little slots makes them perfect. Cant wait to try wrapping them in bacon.
Daniel Johnson –
I actually like this tool, once the dog is cooked, the ridges hold the condiments very well.
John Miller –
Loved the way my hot dogs looked and they came out crispier and juicy.
Sarah Johnson –
Awesome. It’s off the hook
Mike Johnson –
It adds an amusing look to a hot dog and allows smoking & spices to get into the meat. You’ll definately get comments from your gueats. On thin, standard size hot dogs, don’t press down too hard, especially if you do both sides or you’ll cut through.
Mike Johnson –
Gives you all the slits for that delicious hot dog goodness to caramelize while cooking. Only way to make a hot dog. If you boil your hot dogs, your kids hate you. Get this and become the coolest dad in the family, way cooler than Stepdad Steve, who your ex wife thinks is cool because his apartment complex has a pool and because he ‘has a job’.
Anna Johnson –
It sliced the hot dogs as stated. Grilling them made them crispy. Perfect.
Laura Smith –
The product is amazing but I wish you could take it apart to clean it. Have to go back with a toothpick just to get remnants out
Sarah Miller –
Purchased as a gag gift, but it was well received
Laura Williams –
This product exceeded my expectations. By creating a cross-cut on the hot dogs it allowed the char and flavor to get to more surface area, which creates an infinitely better hotdog. This is a great tool for anyone looking to add more flavor to their BBQing experience.
Laura Johnson –
Did what it was supposed to, charred up nicely on the grill ,mission accomplished, slot your wieners 👍🏻🤤😎
Laura Miller –
I will ONLY be using this when cooking Hot Dogs from now on! The little cuts get a little crispy if you cook them on the grill, and it is the best!
Anna Davis –
They must have a patent on the design or something to be able to charge so much. It is exactly as described and it’s very high quality however it’s really worth much less if made by some aftermarket brand but there’s nothing at all out there. I’m assuming they much have a patent or copyright on the design.
Mike Williams –
It is super easy to slice the hot dogs, and they look great once cooked. The only reason I gave four stars is for cleaning. Bits of hot dog stick to the corner of the blades where two meet, and it’s tricky to get it out. I’m not brave enough to just throw it in the dishwasher like that.
Robert Brown –
I love this product. I have a food trailer and use this for my hot dogs. It easy to use, just press the hotdogs onto the grated side. I looks professional and helps cook the weiner a little faster.
Mark Davis –
Love this, bought one for several friends, who all love and use them. It help cook dog a little deeper but also adds a texture and visual to what is already the best damn grilling piece of meat out there. 🥰😛
Mark Smith –
Love how easy this product is to use! My boyfriend loves cutting slits in his hot dogs so this was a perfect find for I’m. Allows seasoning flavors to blend and get into the hot dogs themselves
Mike Smith –
Wow. Simple, efficient, and a conversation starter. Cooking burgers and dogs for the neighborhood kids is awsome. Everyone wants to know how I did it… slit dog. The silliest yet best $20 you will spend on your grill. My own kiddo eats dogs now Casey specials”.”
John Miller –
This is great! Makes slicing dogs so much easier! Taste great when you get a nice crisp on them.
Jessica Hernandez –
This thing works great for cutting the slots into the hot dogs. But I recently grilled dogs for about 45 people. I used the Slotdog for all of them. I was constantly picking out pieces left in between the knife blades.I wish they would have made a way to disassemble the knives for easy washing. I did remove the frame around the blades (which is not supposed to be removed) and the blade assembly is made up of many pieces. I think a better design would be to put all of those blades in a removable frame for cleaning. Just my opinion.Otherwise it performs as expected. With the cuts on the hotdogs, it allows it to take in more of the Slotdog rub which is 5 Star!. It also allows the hotdog to become more crispy on all of those edges.
