Description

  • 879 IN 1 TACTICAL PEN by Bell+Howell: A technical pen with replaceable ink. Comes with a Flat Head and Phillips screwdriver & bottle opener, a flashlight with zoom function and STROBE for self defense (replaceable battery), whistle and an emergency escape tool for breaking glass.
  • DURABLE and HANDY: Tac Pen is constructed from high-grade aluminum. It not only looks and feels durable, it is very durable. Takes up as much space as your regular ball-point pen – so have one ready in your car, in your kitchen, garage or bedroom.
  • Be surprised. This military-grade technical pen has built-in tools the average person needs for but are nowhere to be found when they are needed the most. We took the statistics, materialized them into one item, and the result is Tac Pen by Bell+Howell.
  • REPLACEALBE INK and BATTERIES. Tac Pens Battery and ink are both replaceable. So say goodbye to those other products that are good only until the built-in battery loses power or the after the ink runs dry. Please refer to images for break down of components.
  • PORTABLE & COMPACT With a 7” collapsed length, as mentioned, the Tac Pen is similar in size to your standard office pen, so you can carry it with you anywhere, inside your purse, your glove or overhead compartment. More so, the thickness is just perfect so you can actually comfortably write with it!

Wonderful EDC. Batteries were corroded on arrival, emailed Customer Service, and a day later they sent out a full replacement! Now have one for me and one for my wife.! Excellent response and customer service. Product works great, however you cannot attach the flashlight half to the back of the pen when in use.

  2. Jessica Miller

Only one negative – glass breaker point makes it hard to put in your pants or shirt pocket. Using a pouch or bag takes cares of this issue.

  3. Mark Hernandez

    Portabitlity, Safety

  4. Sarah Martinez

Okay for the price. Was purchased for my husband. So frustrating to receive and the battery in the item was dead. Glad it came with two additional ones. Seems the supplier would check to make sure their item work before shipping.

  5. John Davis

    Great EDC (Every Day Carry).

  6. Jessica Johnson

Not sure how it will last, we’ll see. Feels good and didn’t try writing yet. What I do not like is it’s made in China. It didn’t see that is was. It was listed so my fault. You should change manufacture.

  7. Robert Martinez

This tactical pen feels study and is long enough to use as a kubotan for self-defense. But points off for the pen because the flashlight section can’t be reattached opposite the pen to store it and the space available for pen refills is too short to accommodate my preference for Fischer Space Pen cartridges in tactical pens. Given the shortcomings, I can’t recommend this Tactical Pen for use as a pen.

I own nearly a dozen tactical pens made by different vendors. The MTP-6 Tactical pen with flashlight is the best of all of them, hands down. The aircraft aluminum is very durable, the flashlight is strong enough to be useful for lighting your way and strobe-signaling, the tungsten glassbreaker point is effective for self-defense and breaking glass, the exchangeable tool component can be switched out for the mutitool, a knife, a firestarter or a whistle – and it writes like a charm. At $19.95, the pen comes in great packaging, with 3 extra sets of LR936 button batteries (which is unheard of in the industry), 2 ink refills, and a lifetime warranty from Atomic Bear (a great vendor). I also bought the extra tools and 10-pack of ink refills which are well-worth the few extra dollars they cost. This tactical pen system is a great buy and I highly recommend it!

    Good flashlight and bottle opener

Would have been the perfect except there’s nowhere to fit the cap on the pen when using it. Takes a few minutes to figure out the battery placement but otherwise works as intended.

  12. John Williams

It’s a nice solid chunk of metal, that is good. HOWEVER, a few things. I don’t use this often, so the batteries in the light lasted me 2-1/2 years. I went to replace the batteries with the ones they included, they all had corrosion on them. These things have sat in the original packaging in my desk drawer since I purchased them, there is no reason they should have corrosion on them. Some had battery acid leaking. Also, the pen refills do not last too long, no biggie, it is what it is, but just be aware. Other thing is to use the pen, you unscrew this thing in half to expose the ballpoint pen. There is nowhere to put the other half, If you are just jotting down a quick note, I guess you can just hold it in your hand, but if you are gonna be writing for a little bit, it’s very awkward to have the other half big chuck of metal with nowhere to attach the two pieces. Imagine pens with no caps if the caps didn’t fit on the back of the pen… you would loose the caps often… except the other half of this pen is an important part. The multi tool that is included is cheap and awkward. The screwdriver tip can be useful, but the metal is so cheap feeling I don’t even know if I would trust it to open bottles. The hex nut fitting only fits one specific size, i’m not sure if it’s a common size for some item i’m not aware of, but it just seems awkward having a nut driver that fits one very specific size without giving any explanation as to what its intended purpose is. And the serrated edge that looks like a 1CM knife blade is dull like a banana. I’m not sure of it’s intended use either. So basically you get a low quality flathead screwdriver out of it. And lastly, after purchasing after market batteries due to the corrosion on the included ones, the light does not work at all. 2-1/2 years and this is basically an awkward heavy pen that’s weird to use. If I was buying another tactical pen, I would buy something that doesn’t have all these bells and whistles that aren’t really functional and prone to break.

Stumbled across this tactical pen & gave them as Christmas presents for my family. Loaded with handy tools. And best of all, it’s a great writing pen!

  14. Anna Johnson

Edit: I was able to contact the seller and they replied even though it was Christmas Day and they are sending replacement batteries. Therefore, I have increased my star rating from a three to a five as I feel this was excellent customer service and I would buy from them again as this was resolved in a timely manner.I bought this for my husband as one of his Christmas gifts and he loves it. However, ALL the batteries it came with had leaked in the box and the ones in the tool leaked also. Very disappointing as he can’t use the light part until we buy more batteries

  15. John Johnson

The pen has to be unscrewed from the top in order to use it and that’s a bit more cumbersome than just a click”. Quality seems good but I would rather have something I can access the most common use for the pen.”

  16. Emily Brown

Nice pen. Strong. Looks tactical so if that’s okay, then this is how it looks. Accessories are cute. Do I need a bottle opener? Cute. Light is good, good to have. I prefer a less blunt carbide tip are, but I’m sure it will still work well. Pen writes very nice. Good deterrent and offensive weapon. Great price. Recommended.

  17. Robert Hernandez

I just wish they had more accessories in their store. I found a blade and belt clip for it but now later I can’t find again. Sucks to live at 350low the poverty level, let me tell you!

  18. Jessica Brown

I really wanted to like this pen but at this point I am on my last set of spare batteries and have stopped carrying this because the flashlight feature is so unreliable. When I first got this pen I noticed right away that it was very easy to accidentally actuate the flashlight based on the placement of the button at the top end of the pen. I figured I had to be extra careful but the light stopped working after about a month, and I really only carried this pen about once a week at most. I chalked up to the battery dying so quick the first time to the light being accidentally actuated when I put it away, but the second set of batteries lasted maybe two months, and once again I carried this pen infrequently and only used the flashlight when I let my dog out at night. The actual writing feature of the pen works fine and the glass breaker seems sturdy enough for an emergency, but with the flashlight being so ineffective I would rather carry a better tac pen with less bulk and buy a separate flashlight.

  19. Robert Johnson

Awesome Pen All the way around!

  20. Laura Brown

Got this as a stocking stuffer for my husband and he thought it was really cool and keeps it in his car. It’s got lots of useful features!

  21. Robert Jones

The flashlight is fairly bright and the strobe has some usefulness in a few situations. As for the screwdriver it’s durable enough but it’s usefulness is really up to the user and how often will you really use that bottle opener lol. Overall it’s a really durable tool solid yet it does take a few seconds to unscrew in half to get to its main function the pen. It writes well enough just don’t expect to be writing out a novel with this thing. It’s not meant for writing reports just simple quick notes as it’s not the most comfortable writing implement. Overall it’s a great little tool for anyones utility belt or box especially those in Military, LE or security.

  22. Daniel Hernandez

Seems well made and just as advertised. Exactly what I was looking for. It’s also fairly weighty.Couple of things to note, in case you’re considering this fine pen.1) If you miss the versatility of the Fisher Space Pen, fear not. The Fisher Pressurized Universal Refills will fit this Atomic Bear Tactical Pen. Break it off at the 2nd junction (they’re designed this way purposefully), use the spring already inside your pen, and take the little black endpiece off of the existing refill and put it on to the FSP Universal refill. If you don’t do that, there’s nothing for the spring to push against and the refill will just fall out of the pen. Voila: a hardcore tactical pen that writes upside down, underwater, over grease, in zero gravity, and at extreme temperatures with a thixotropic ink pressurized refill.2) The batteries for my flashlight were in upside down, and I spent a little time figuring that out. To get the flashlight to work, unscrew the light from the pen, tap out the little paper disk that keeps the batteries fresh, and make sure you put the battery pack back in with the label DOWN (toward the inside of the pen). Screw the flashlight part back on and you should be good to go.This is a fantastic price for a fantastic instrument. Even better with the best ink on the planet.

  23. Robert Brown

Purchased as a gift. Good value, bought in set of three.

  24. Jessica Davis

Arrived on time. Flashlight feature of the pen does not work. Disappointing.

  25. Sarah Brown

Good , sturdy quality instrument. But…once the pen cap is removed to use the pen… there’s no place to stow the cap !

  26. Jessica Hernandez

The Atomic Bear pen arrived on time and looks like the item displayed online. It feels good in the hand, solid but not heavy. The assembled pen is about a 25%larger than the pens I normally use, but when I extract just the pen portion it is about 10% smaller. The pen cover does not attach to the other end of the pen while writing, thus it must be placed in a pocket or some other easily accessible place so that it is not misplaced. All the parts function as described. The box contained two pen refills and three more sets of batteries. The flashlight is great for lighting a key lock at night or shining on a path. It is not super bright or shine at a distance. Two clicks on the small button and the light goes into strobe mode. I have owned the pen for just a couple of weeks and have not exposed it to any hard use. Consequently, I cannot attest to ruggedness and life.

  27. John Jones

MTP-6 allows for self defense, utility in emergencies and just plain functionality as everyone needs a good pen. MTP-6 is by far the best of the other 2 multi use tactical pens I own. From first grasp, one is confident of a quality product one can feel safe with without extra need of unscrewing to expose needed parts etc. If multi-functionality is a priority, I would recommend the extra expense of the accessory package of the knife, fire starter and whistle. The need for extra storage can be alleviated with an ear bud case from Dollar Tree. It holds everything including the striker and zips closed for pocket carry. If you’re not the always prepared Boy Scout I am who needs the tools, Atomic bear’s Rebel and Swat models are quite solid pens with just the tungsten point for glass break and self defense. Lastly, I should address the issue of the complaint of many regarding the cap doesn’t attach when the pen is in use. The clip provided is always solid enough, clip it SOMEWHERE people, GEE!!

  28. Jessica Jones

I liked the pen but ( always a but) the flashlight goes on once in awhile. It may jut me. Everything else is good for the price.

  29. Emily Brown

the switch to turn on the flashlight is located in a very bad place and takes almost no effort to turn on. i find the light on constantly when in my jacket pocket and then the battery ends up dead. I wish i would have noticed this sooner, I would have returned it. The rest of the pen is just fair. tools” are kind of cheaply made.”

  30. Jessica Hernandez

Nice well-built and feels pretty durable. The pen writes smoothly and the spare cartridges are nice compliments. The flash light is a good touch but I wish it was a lot brighter. Another feature that I like is the fact that you can rest your thumb agaist the flash light end for support when using the glass breaker tip and self defense. As much as I love it I wish the barrel holding the flag light could screw on top of the glass breaker when using the pen. Perhaps, this will be for future release. I would also like see it in a green camo color.

  31. Mark Brown

This pen/multitool/rescue tool/flashlight is awesome, looks great, and has taken permanent residence in my bag. But more importantly, I contacted customer support because a piece of the pen was not working (flashlight) and it’s the best exchange with customer support I’ve had in a long time. Atomic Bear’s customer support responded quickly and fixed my issue promptly – it felt like a throwback to time before fast-everything and AI chat bots. That brief e-mail exchange increases my confidence that this thing WORKS – since I don’t regularly find myself in situations that require breaking glass, their ability to stand by their products and support the people who buy their products absolutely increases my trust in this entire company.

  32. John Martinez

What I like about this tactical pen:1. It is made of high-quality materials2. It is comfortable to use/handle3. It has good features and multiple usesWhat I dislike about this tactical pen:1. In order to use the writing pen, the cap screws off but it does not screw back onto the other end, which makes it so that the cap must be either held or pocketed. This means that it is a very short writing utensil, which makes it uncomfortable to use in that manner.Suggestion to the makers of this tactical pen:Make the male threads on the glass breaker end match the female threads of the pen cap; this will make it so that the two pieces can be connected to make a longer pen and so that it will be less likely to drop or misplace the pen cap.

  33. Anna Davis

Great product, lightweight and durable, my only bad issue, if that’s what you want to call it, is that when you unscrew the top for the pen it doesn’t attach to the back for storage like others. Received as a gift & I absolutely love it

  34. Laura Martinez

    My dad loved it!

  35. Jessica Jones

Pen cap can easily be misplaced whole writing as it does not secure onto the opposite side of the pen…

  36. Mark Hernandez

The item is versatile and does everything it advertises, as well as easy to carry. However, it seems I can’t find a way to carry that doesn’t inadvertently activate the light switch. The unit came with four extra sets of batteries. I have now gone through the original and two sets because of this, and owned a short time. Otherwise, good product.

  37. Anna Brown

Absolute necessity in any car…if you are trapped inside your vehicle this tool will break glass and save your life. A great birthday gift too.

  38. Robert Smith

I love this. Feel safe carrying this when I walk my dogs. I want to definitely buy more. Especially at night.

  39. Emily Garcia

I didn’t actually get to see it unfortunately. But, Its always on her uniform. So must be good.

  40. Daniel Martinez

    Good quality smooth writing

  41. Sarah Garcia

I like that it offers a few different tool options beyond being a pen with a tungsten tip at one end. Easy to keep on your person in most any place, and fairly discrete. I have noticed that I inadvertently turn on the flashlight, but I turned the clip to the opposite side, and I think that should prevent that going forward. Having the screw on cap makes it more sturdy, but it would be nice if it screwed on to the non-writtimg end when the pen is in use for making notes, and such.I know it would make it more bulky, but a storage option for the add on tool bits would be appreciated from where I’m standing.Overall, I don’t think you’ll find a tactical pen that is better” just maybe different.”

  42. Robert Miller

This tactical pen is high quality. The flashlight and strobe are very bright. As others have noted, it is easy to accidentally press the switch to turn on the flashlight. I rotated the clip on the barrel to make it less likely to turn the light on when in my pocket. Note: when I received the item, the light did not work. I unscrewed the light to replace the batteries (replacement batteries are included) and a small disk of paper fell out. This paper prevented the light from coming on during shipment, with the paper disk removed the light worked. I made one modification to the unit: I did not like the sharp exposed glass breaking point in my pocket, I went to the hardware store and bought a small vinyl cap (used for protecting bolt threads) that was a perfect fit over the point end. It only takes a split second to remove during an emergency.

  43. Emily Miller

This pen LOOKS real nice, and yes it does have a lot of functionality to it. But simply whipping this pen out for writing with is difficult; the cap is a twist-off and–unless I’m just unable to do it–it doesn’t screw onto the back of the pen either. It’s really not meant for jotting something down quickly, if you’re looking for a quick pen to do that with, this is not it. I should also mention that the flashlight button is very sensitive and more than a few times i’ve found it turned on, even if it’s clipped to the front of my polo.

  44. Daniel Martinez

So overall I do like this pen, but there is one major flaw that I just can’t get over that is making me go with another pen. But before I get into that, here are the pros. The multi tool works well and is pretty tough. Was able to open a bottle, unscrew some small screws, jagged ends can even cut and fray a bit. The flashlight is fine. Not the brightest, but as bright as it can be for the type of batteries it uses. No problems there. Screws in and out just fun, no issues. Here is the main issue I have with this. To get to the pen, you have to unscrew it into two pieces. The thing that is just too inconvenient for me is that you can’t screw it back together into one piece and have the pen out at the same time. In other words, if you want to have the pen, the cap has to stay off; it doesn’t attach to the bottom. That is just the only issue I have with this, but it is such a huge issue for me I definitely will be getting another pen. If that isn’t a huge issue for you, by all means this pen is pretty good from testing it out.

  45. Sarah Davis

It’s a nice, fairly heavy pen that I’d imagine would be able to administer at least a small degree of damage to someone in a emergency combat situation if used properly and with enough force. That being said, this is definitely not a stand alone self defense tool and should not be marketed or used as such. Even if you never have to use it and you’re buying it more for the aesthetic, it’s a nice pen. I think it’s a bit overpriced though.

  46. John Williams

This is my first tactical pen. The pen feels incredibly well built and sturdy in the hand but not overly weighty. It comes neatly packaged in a box containing multiple ink refills and replacement battery cells. Unscrew the cap and the pen itself is revealed. The pen itself is very smooth writing. Unscrew the glass breaker end and the multi-tool is revealed. Here you have a bottle opener, a serrated edge and a flat head screw driver. The Atomic Bear pen also includes a two-mode flashlight that is pretty bright. The strobe mode can be pretty effective in disorienting a potential attacker. The one and only reason for the four star review and not a five star is the button to activate the flashlight. I normally carry the pen clipped to my right pants pocket. On more than several occasions I’ve looked down to see the flashlight on. The button to activate the flashlight is very easily pushed on by accident and will burn out a battery cell rather quickly if you don’t notice the light is on.Other than that, this is a pretty solid tactical pen, especially for the cost. I recommend it. Just check your pocket every now and then if you carry it on your person and make sure the light isn’t on.

  47. Mark Hernandez

Overall this is a great tactical pen… kind of.It’s sturdy in construction and writes very well. But, the threads on the end of the pen are coarse, and the threads inside the cap are fine. So…. when you remove the cap, I guess you put it in your pocket so that you don’t lose it???Anyhow, if they fix the thread matching or make the cap snap onto the body of the pen, I would probably buy another and give this one away.

  48. Mike Johnson

Quality of material and great value for money.. exceeds my expectation as advertised.

  49. Sarah Miller

I had received one in which the flashlight did not work, no matter how many times I changed the batteries. Expressed my discouragement to company & they provided me with a complimentary replacement. Received today & it works great. Must have been a fluke with the previous pen.

  50. Daniel Jones

I recently purchased this Tactical Pen – a multifunctional tool that has quickly become an essential part of my everyday carry. As a self-defense pen, it offers peace of mind with its sturdy build and easy-to-use glass breaker tip. But it’s so much more than that! The built-in flashlight is bright and practical, perfect for finding items in the dark or during power outages. The addition of a bottle opener adds a layer of convenience to my outdoor activities and social gatherings. Having three ink refills included is a thoughtful touch, ensuring long-term usability without the hassle of frequent replacements. What impresses me most is the generous inclusion of 12 batteries, guaranteeing that the flashlight remains operational for a long time. The pen feels great in hand, not too bulky yet solid enough to handle the rigors of daily use. It’s not just a tool but a reliable companion for various situations.Overall, this Tactical Pen is a fantastic blend of utility and durability. It’s an ideal piece of tactical gear that also serves as a practical gift for anyone who values preparedness and functionality. I highly recommend it for both men and women who appreciate quality tactical equipment.
